[Sooo Hayate's been here for about a month now. And you know what he has done? Nothing. No making breakfast for people early in the morning, lunch in the afternoon, dinner in the evening, or even random cakes that look like they were made by Cake Boss at 2 AM. No cleaning, no sneaking talking tigers around Japan and getting hit by cars... Nope. Nothing. And as such, he feels like a lazyass right now.

Sure, he has helped people here and there with cooking (especially his neighbors whose closet door he completely mutilated), and yeah, relaxing is great, but... if he's going to possibly end up being here for months, or even years? He wants to do something more productive! ..And naturally, this productivity doesn't exactly end up benefiting him in any way whatsoever but. Oh well. So after some thought as to how he should go about this, he goes ahead and makes a video entry.]

Hello, people of Luceti! My name is Hayate Ayasaki. [..How should he approach this again..] ..Ah, back at home, I happen to be a butler. Milady isn't here though, so I figured I may as well find something to do with my time since I'm not quite sure what else to do here...

So! I wanted to offer being anyone's butler, or... something like that, anyway. Since I wouldn't be living with the person or anything, ahaha... [He laughs a bit nervously.] But I could at least help people out with housework such as cleaning or cooking. Would anyone happen to be interested? It wouldn't be limited to one person, either.. I wouldn't mind helping multiple people with that. Or with anything else, for that matter. So if someone doesn't need me to do housework, I could at least help with things like moving furniture and stuff... or whatever else, really! I'll do my best with whatever it is.

[And then a long pause, as he thinks of whether or not he has anything else to say... nope.] Ah, I guess that's about it, so... just let me know!

[And then off the feed goes...! Later on, Hayate can be found around the item shop, looking for things like nails and screws. It's about time he fixed that door of Aoba and Mikado's...! And then he'll be heading on back to C7.]

Okay, Perona-sama! I'll see you soon then!

[Just give him about an hour or two, and he'll be walking up over to the second community building!]

[Hayate may not see his new employer right away (she got sick of waiting outside), but he may very well see something peculiar floating around in the sky before it vanishes...into the building. Through a wall. Um, yes. Nothing odd about that at all, right? Right.

Only minutes after that event, though, out comes Perona, devil themed parasol and all.]

I almost thought you wouldn't come! ...Do you live very far, Hayate-kun?

[Oh dear did he come too late? He glances around for her, looking up when he notices that weird... floating thing.]

...Eh? [..Except now it just floated through a wall? Uhh.] W-wha...?!

[...But! Then he notices Perona. Or at least, he hears her. He's too busy staring up at the wall that thing flew into to be able to actually see her walk out of the building.]

A-ah... I'm very sorry for taking a while, Perona-sama! I live kind of far away, yes... Though I also had to finish up a few things over in my apartment. ["A few things" being the numerous other people contacting him, but yeah.] Please forgive me!

[Perona follows Hayate's line of sight after a while, confused at first. Ah, he must have seen one of her hollow spirits. Hehe, did he get scared by it? Oops! She's have to remember to apologize sometime. Hopefully he won't be too afraid to work for her, given a few of those same spirits hang around, doing recon work.]

Mmm...it's all right, but you should have told me - I waited for a very long time, butler-kun! But I forgive you, since you're doing me a very big favor.

[Oh no... Even if she does forgive him, he still does feel bad about this! He really should have told her he'd take a while, huh? He'll just have to do his best to make it up to her, clearly.]

Y-yes, I should have... I promise I'll make it up to you though, and work extra hard!

[Hm...rather faithful, this one. And hard working. Perona gives him a quick glance from the corner of her eye, and she smiles - very good. He'll do, he'll definitely do.]

Mm, all right. It's this way. [And she heads right on over to the elevator, waving hayate over as well. Her apartment's on the seventh floor, and like hell Perona's going to take the stairs, puh.]

[He returns the smile with his own, and then nods and follows her along to the elevator.]

What floor do you live on, Perona-sama?

The seventh one. I Thought having a floor all to myself would be nice, but it's so dull and quiet and boring...there's no one at all to keep me company or even to entertain me! I have a lot of space, but no one to enjoy it with. [No one to brush the ends of her hair, no one to greet her when she wakes up, no one to bring her food and snacks, no one to tel her she looks wonderful in anything and everything she wears...not a single person.]

If there were thing to do here that were fun and enjoyable, I may not be so upset, but I don't even have a proper ocean to sail on!

Ah, I see... I can imagine it being rather lonely having an entire floor to yourself. [Kinda like how Nagi gets lonely easily in the giant mansion.] You don't have to worry about that anymore though, Perona-sama! I'll make sure to keep you company whenever I can.

There's an ocean here in Luceti though, isn't there?

I'm not--! [She bites her lip, and pouts, before exiting the elevator as the doors open on the seventh floor at last. It's embarrassing to admit, but Hayate really hit the nail right on the head. She was lonely without her servants and crewmates to keep her company and entertained. But, she does smile - honestly this time - and thank him for his help and company. It's nice, having someone around at last.]

It's no more an ocean but a puddle. Nothing like the ocean I'm used to. It'll do if I really begin to miss sailing, but...for someone like me to be landlocked like this, for so long...it's unbearable. But there's little to be done about it, unfortunately. I'll have to make do with the puddle.

[Annnd they've arrived, outside her door, which Perona unlocks and opens. Oh, and, perhaps Hayate will recall the thing he saw earlier...the thing that passed into the building before. There are dozens of them floating around the room.

Ghosts.]

[Yeah, sorry Perona... Hayate lacks tact sometimes. When he sees her smile though, he just smiles back!]

Mmm, I could understand that then, I think. But there's always the Battle Dome simulations, right? You could make them look like an ocean and even have a large trip to sail--

Are those... ghosts...]

[...oh shit they are.]

[It seems as though these ghosts have all infiltrated Perona-sama's floor while she left and on our way back up... That would explain the one I saw outside!

Hayate immediately jumps in front of Perona!]

Perona-sama! Please, stay behind me! I'll make sure these ghosts don't harm you. You should get away while you can!

[...Uh. What's he doing? Oh, is he really--pffft! Oh, goodness, he is, isn't he? Poor dear. It's cute how he thinks he can actually do anything about her hollows like that, or that he can fight or fend them off. Should she explain? She probably should explain that they're hers, that she's the one who made them, and can control them.

But she doesn't.

No, right now she's feeling a bit mischievous. And perhaps she can test this boy's loyalties this way, too - and his skill. So far so good.]

Mm...I don't think that will do much good, Hayate-kun. [Considering the hollows are wafting on back towards their master.]

[He is, he is..! After all, he can't let a girl get hurt or scared by some ghosts! Especially if she's his mistress, yep.

Once he notices that the ghosts are coming toward them -- or rather, toward Perona -- he gets in a more protective stance and tenses.]

I won't let you touch her! [And with that... he runs right at 'em! He considers the fact that since they are ghosts, he may not be able to physically touch them but... it's worth a shot! After all, Linn, that stupid ghost priest, is able to be touched by Hayate! So... here he goes!]

[Oh, he's so noble! Perona's actually tempted to finally stop him, but...even if she did, she can't exactly stop a man leaping through the air. Not very well, at least.] Ah, you shouldn't...

[Welp, he'll just have to deal with the consequences, and she'll apologize. For now, though? For now, Hayate will phase harmlessly through one of the happy, giggling ghosts as they continue on their merry way back to their master. Poor Hayate, he'll probably feel a horrible, icy chill sweep through him, as well as like every shred of happiness and positive thought is being forcefully ripped out of him. Good feelings? Gone. Pride in himself? Gone. His body will feel heavy with grief, yet his spirit will have been hollowed out of any positive feeling he may have once carried a second ago.

Oops.]

I'll be fine, Perona-sama! Just run while you still can-- E-eh...?!

[...Well, looks like he actually couldn't physically touch them! His eyes go wide as he phases on through the giddy ghosts and he feels as though all the good things in life are suddenly gone. He doesn't even bother to actually look back and chase the ghosts or anything.]

[...So instead? He's just going to go over to the nearest corner and sit in fetal position, suddenly feeling guilty beyond belief.

Excuse him as he mopes.]

[AHAHA--no matter who it is, that will never not be amusing. Perona snickers quietly, reabsorbs the ghosts into her body with an extended hand, and walks over to Hayate. The effects should wear off in about a minute or so, she just has to wait a bit. But until then, an explanation is in order.

Hopefully he can concentrate enough to listen in that state.]

Horohoro...I should have warned you more. Those ghosts are mine. It's my special power - I can control and create ghosts. I'm sorry you had to experience their effects firsthand, horohorohoro! They don't last too long, though.

[It takes Hayate a moment to actually respond to Perona, seeing as how... yeah, he's stuck in this state for a minute or two. When he does though, his voice is a little drawn out.]

A-ah, I see, Perona-sama...

[..He doesn't say much else than that yet though. Give him a moment to take that in properly..]

[Poor thing. Perona actually does feel a little bad for him, even if it was kinda funny. She kneels down next to Hayate and tilted her head with a small smile. Heh, he did well, though, this butler. Loyal, kind, obedient...he's no Bearsy, but he's still a good person.]

Should I make you some tea or cocoa to help with the effects? You'll feel a little better with something warm, I think.

[Oh, that snaps him out of it! He blinks for a moment, and then shakes his head quickly.]

E-eh..? A-ah, n-no, that's fine, Perona-sama! I couldn't ask for you to do that. [Especially since that is his job now, isn't it?] I should be the one making you a drink, shouldn't I..?!

Well, if you want... [She won't put up a fuss. That is his new job and all, and Perona does want to tests his skills in the fields of cooking and stuff as well. He was certainly a keeper, yes, but gotta make sure all qualifications are met.]

There's a small kitchen here, this way. [Which she leads him to.] Hm, you were very brave to try and protect me, Hayate-kun, thank you. Horoho--even if I didn't really need helping, though.
