[After doing his normal cleaning and cooking at House 40 in the morning, Hayate finds out about the results for the Secret Santa drawing, and well... ah yes. Luke. He knows Luke. Vaguely. They met once. Maybe twice. It certainly wasn't enough times for Hayate to have gotten to know him and learn about his interests, though, so... an investigation is in order! After all, he wants to be sure that he has at least some idea of what Luke may like for the holidays.

So he decides to perform this investigation in the most eloquent way possible. You know, by basically following the kid around for an hour or two. Maybe three. Whether it be hiding behind trees, within bushes, around the corners of buildings, under a box... he's just. following him around the village. yep. He's also wearing a black fedora and large glasses with a nose and mustache attached, because clearly that is the best disguise.

Super stealthy. Right here.

[Once Hayate's done creeping on Luke for the day, he goes about his normal shopping! Which means mostly the grocery store, but he does need to try finding some gifts for people, so he stops by the item and clothing shops as well. While in one of the stores, though, he does happen to find a violin, which he ends up staring down for a few long moments before picking it up and heading back home to CH7.

Feel free to bump into him in the stores, or even on the way home! Maybe not literally, though. I mean. Just look at all those groceries, that violin, and that box used for ultimate stealth purposes...]

[Aaaaand then while home, he'll throw up a voice entry...!]

Ahh... It's strange how quickly time flies, isn't it? To think that I came here a little over nine months ago, and have even turned seventeen while here... it's really strange to think about! Perhaps this is how the Pevensies felt after spending so much time in Narnia... And if that's the case, I wonder if whenever I return home, it'll be as if only a few seconds have passed since I left?! That's what happened to them, after all. But if that were to happen, does that mean I could grow old here, and then suddenly go back home as a young, beardless and wrinkleless boy again? [...] ...This is beginning to sound like Luceti could be advertised on TV as a new and unorthodox anti-aging product... [squint...]

...Anyway! It's December, so that means the new year is coming up, right? What do you all usually do during that time of year? Whether it be what you did back at home, or even in Luceti. I wasn't here last year or anything, so I'm a little curious on the latter as well, actually.

[You know that violin Hayate discovered in the plaza earlier today? Yeah, he's putting that to use...! So that night (not too late though!), he decides to sit outside of CH7, playing his new instrument for a bit. It's been a while since he last played one, however, so he's a liiiittle bit rusty! But the song he is playing still should sound pretty nice!

He'll be out there for some time, so come bother him yes.]

[Starting around lunch time, Luke feels like he's being...watched. He thinks nothing of it at first. When he does start to get suspicious, instead of freaking out and causing a scene, he starts taking special notice of the things around him.

Hmm. Seems he only really picks up on the feeling when there's a lot of convenient stuff nearby to hide behind. Hmmmmmm.

He can't shake it or shrug it off; later, at dinner, he realizes he saw someone in a fake disguise mask a couple of times, and figures it was a mean-spirited resident pulling a prank. So he doesn't bring it up to Layton or Maiza.

An evening walk sounds like a better idea. Maybe he can catch whoever it was! He sneaks out the door in a very overt manner for someone 'trying' to be stealthy, and meanders his way to the plaza...and the sound of a violin.

He hasn't played since the experiment where he got his back. Luke stops to listen.]

[After that tiring day of following poor Luke around, Hayate's pretty beat. So being able to relax outside and play his new instrument is rather nice and calming. He just hopes that he's not keeping anyone up with this...! But ah well.

He doesn't notice Luke stopping and listening to the song, so he just continues playing until he's finally finished.]

Ah... it's really been a while since I played one of these, hasn't it?

[Layton rounds a corner to see a moving box. Being well-conditioned to investigate any and all anomalies on his screen, he walks up to the box curiously and taps it twice with his stylus one finger.]

[ Hilda stops right in her tracks when she catches sight of the moving box and stares at it for a little while before deciding to investigate -- by approaching the box and attempting to hold it down to keep it from moving. ]

[Do you ever get the feeling that you're being watched? Hayate might, because... well, he is. To be more accurate, it probably started earlier in the day when he was on his "stealth" mission and continued on and off throughout the day. It's like someone was onto his ingenious (?) plan but never confronted him about it. Until now, of course!

Robin's nice enough to wait until Hayate's done playing before he speaks up. His voice comes from somewhere high, but the source of it might be difficult to point out.]

I know what you're up to, Snake Whisperer.

[...okay. So maybe this is silly. Technically, he's busy with Something Important, but who says he can't have a little fun doing it, right? (Well, probably the other Robin, but he doesn't count.) EITHER WAY, he's bored and he sees nothing wrong with teasing his Secret Santa partner.]
